Corail 2021 - Provence - Château de Roquefort

Provence Perfection – One of the Region's Finest Rosés

Bonjour! Let me introduce you to an exceptional rosé that captures everything we love about Provence – luminous colour, enchanting aromas, vibrant freshness, and the kind of elegance that only comes from exceptional terroir and meticulous winemaking.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Nestled in the foothills of the Massif de la Sainte Baume in the heart of Provence, Château de Roquefort has been crafting wines of remarkable finesse and character for generations. This historic estate sits on some of the region's most privileged terroir – clay-limestone scree enriched with pebbly soils, with vineyards facing northwest and west to capture optimal sunlight while retaining the vibrant acidity that makes Provence rosé so irresistible.
The Château's approach to winemaking is both traditional and precise. Corail is crafted from a refined blend of six grape varieties – Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Vermentino, and Clairette – each contributing its own character to this beautifully balanced wine. The production process is thoughtful and gentle: direct pressing for most varieties, with some undergoing cold maceration to extract delicate aromatics and colour. Cold clarification and natural fermentation preserve the wine's purity, while gravitational work in the cellar (no pumping) enhances its finesse and elegance.
This is rosé winemaking at its finest – respecting the fruit, honouring the terroir, and crafting a wine that embodies the essence of Provence.

What You'll Discover
Pour yourself a glass and admire the luminous pale salmon hue – delicate, refined, and utterly captivating. The nose is enchanting: fresh strawberries and raspberries mingle with citrus fruits and white peach, all underlined by a delicate flinty minerality that speaks to the estate's unique terroir.
On the palate? Fresh, mouthwatering, and beautifully balanced. Bright red berry flavours – strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant – dance alongside citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon zest, supported by lively acidity and a mineral backbone. The finish is long, persistent, and utterly clean – inviting you to take another sip and savour the elegance. This is Provence rosé at its most refined and compelling.

Perfect Pairings
This wine is made for the Mediterranean table. Think fresh seafood – grilled prawns with garlic and herbs, pan-seared scallops, or a beautiful bouillabaisse. It's equally magnificent with shellfish platters, oysters with shallot vinaigrette, or grilled fish with lemon and olive oil.
For a classic Provençal experience, pair it with salade niçoise, ratatouille, or grilled vegetables with goat cheese. Serve it well-chilled at 8–10°C on a warm afternoon, and let it transport you to the sun-drenched hills of Provence.

Why We Love It
At The French Carousel, we seek out wines that showcase the very best of their region – and Corail is one of the finest rosés Provence has to offer. Château de Roquefort's commitment to quality, their privileged terroir in the foothills of the Massif de la Sainte Baume, and their meticulous winemaking approach all come together in this exceptional bottle.
This is rosé that goes beyond simple refreshment – it's elegant, complex, and utterly captivating. With its vibrant acidity, delicate minerality, and long, persistent finish, Corail delivers the sophistication and finesse that make Provence rosé beloved around the world. It's a wine that elevates any occasion and reminds us why we fell in love with French wine in the first place.
